Season 5 of Orange is the New Black was explosive quite literally , but one character that particularly lit up the screen was Flaca, played by Jackie Cruz. POPSUGAR: What can you tell about what's going to happen with Flaca?

Jackie Cruz: Girl, I don't know. We are all sh ting bricks! We don't know our future.

PS: What are you hoping to see from your character?

JC: What I want is for her to understand where she's at right now. It's not a great place, and I know they Flaritza try to make light of things, but I think it's time for Flaca to really think about where she's at. I want her to be more serious. Maybe we will get to see more vulnerable moments. Flaca is very funny, she's made everyone laugh with Maritza. If we are separated, I don't know if you are going to get that anymore.

PS: How are you hoping to see Flaca and Maritza's relationship evolve?

JC: Who knows what could happen. I have no idea, but I hope that we are not separated. I hope that the bus is going to the same place. We will see, but I can't tell you because they don't even know.

PS: What did you think about season 5, being a part of it and as a viewer?

JC: I was watching it last night, so I do have an opinion. It was very, very relevant. I think we need more shows that talk about what's happening in the world. My boyfriend made a comment, "It's crazy how TV is showing the world what's going on," but it's true. People need to know even through art what is going on in the world and how we can change it. I love this season! I felt like everyone got a few laughs from us, but we also got to see the prison system, how messed up it is, and how we can change it. That's all real! It's all happening right now. People that are maybe even innocent are in prison, because they are making money off of them. Even the money that the prisons have, they are not using for the right thing. I'm so grateful to be part of a show that's maybe making a difference somehow and maybe changing the system a little bit by bringing awareness.
