UFC OKC video recap: Boetsch knocks out Hendricks in second round

Get the Full StoryTim Boetsch bounces back from his recent loss by stopping former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks. Former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks was determined to put on a show in front of his home crowd in Oklahoma City. But after missing weight at 185-pounds, he was once again met with disappointment as he picks up his fourth loss in his last five fights, this time at the hands of Tim Boetsch.

What was the highlight of the fight?

As pointed out by Dominick Cruz, the two men had identical fighting styles, with the difference being Boetsch s size advantage. Bigg Rigg was determined to land his patented left hand by setting it up with jabs and low kicks, but The Barbarian is having none of it. He was instead keeping the fight at a comfortable distance through front kicks.

It was when Boetsch landed a right high kick that landed flush on Hendricks that became the beginning of the end. From there, Hendricks was on wobbly legs, which was only met with a barrage of punches from Boetsch, until the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

Where do these two go from here?

Boetsch may have just entered the top 15 in the middleweight rankings with his win over Hendricks. He can probably face someone like Uriah Hall, who is currently on a skid, and if he puts on another impressive performance, he could likely crack the top ten.

Hendricks s fate in the UFC could be in jeopardy, after missing weight once again at this new weight class and losing in such manner. It would not be a surprise if he ended up being released from the promotion after this fight.

Watch now, later, or never?

It was a highlight reel finish from Boetsch, but it was nothing that fans have not seen from him before. Could be saved for a later time.
