Dana White: I don t think GSP will retire if he loses to Bisping, he s a world champion

Get the Full StoryWin or lose at UFC 217, Dana White believes St-Pierre will stick around for another fight. It s no secret that Georges St-Pierre plans to hang up the gloves for good if he loses to Michael Bisping at UFC 217.

One thing I can tell you for sure, that I m one fight from retiring for good. This, I can tell you for sure. If I come back and I lose, this is it for me, St-Pierre said in an interview earlier this year.

UFC president Dana White, on the other hand, believes Rush will fight again if he loses to Bisping. White thinks St-Pierre s championship mindset will only spur him on for another fight. The 36-year-old hasn t lost a bout since Matt Serra pulled off one of the sport s biggest upsets over ten years ago at UFC 69.

I think he will fight again , White told TSN in Canada recently, per MMA Weekly s Damon Martin. I think that GSP s one of those guys that won t want to go out like that. He ll probably move back down to 170 pounds and take a fight there; I would imagine.

Guy s been a world champion most of his career. I just don t see him going out like that.

St-Pierre hasn t fought in almost four years but the Canadian is more motivated than ever to cement his legacy as the greatest of all time at UFC 217. The former welterweight kingpin will look to dethrone Bisping in his middleweight debut and become a two-division champion.

Bisping, 38, seized the middleweight throne last year by knocking out Luke Rockhold and went on to defend the title against Dan Henderson in a grudge match at UFC 204.

UFC 217, which features Bisping vs. St-Pierre as the headlining bout, takes place next month, Nov. 4, at Madison Square Garden, New York.
