Prepare To Get Deja Vu From The Trailer For Louis C.K.’s “I Love You, Daddy”

Get the Full StoryOf all the weeks to release the first trailer for a Woody Allen-esque movie about an older Hollywood filmmaker preying on a young woman and her equally-Hollywood dad who is only sort-of worried about it all, maaaaaaaybe this shouldn’t have been that week. But regardless, the first trailer for Louis C.K.’s new film I Love You, Daddy was released yesterday.

Louis C.K. reportedly wrote, directed, and funded I Love You, Daddy in semi-secrecy. It debuted at TIFF last month, and people were quick to point out similarities to the work of Woody Allen. How could you not? It’s filmed in black and white, it’s set in New York, it’s got an orchestral jazz-ish soundtrack and it’s all about a respected older filmmaker John Malkovitch creeping on a teenage girl Chloe Grace Moretz who goes to Paris with him. Hmmm…where oh where have I heard that one before?

Of course the trailer had some people reaching for the brain bleach. At the very least, that trailer probably isn’t going to do much to make people forget about those hotel room masturbation rumors that won’t stop following Louis C.K. around.

It only makes it worse by the fact that Chloe Grace Moretz is constantly calling Louis C.K. “daddy.” If Louis had popped onto the internet any time in the past year, he would have known that “daddy” doesn’t really mean what it used to anymore. In fact, I’m pretty sure that title is going to get him a cease-and-desist from anyone who has ever typed “i love u daddy” in the comments of a hot guy’s Instagram page. That, or a surprise visit from Chris Hansen.
