Zak Cummings suffered an injury Friday and has been forced out of his welterweight bout against Brazilian veteran Thiago Alves, the UFC announced Friday night. A short-notice replacement will not be sought, per the promotion.

Cummings said in a tweet that he slipped while stepping out of a bathtub, presumably in the process of his weight cut, and injured his skull.

I m absolutely fucking devastated right now. This one of the best cuts I ve ever had and slipped while moving from the tub to the ground and cracked my fucking skull on a handrail. I ve missed most of my 3 months olds entire life! You disgust me Zak Cummings ZakCummings January 13, 2018

I m absolutely f-cking devastated right now, Cummings wrote.

Cummings 21-5 is riding a two-fight winning streak with submission wins over Nathan Coy and Alexander Yakovlev. Alves 22-11 is coming off a decision win over Patrick Cote in April 2017. It marked his return to 170 pounds after an attempted one-fight stint at lightweight, as he badly failed to make 155 for his decision loss vs. Jim Miller.

Cummings vs. Alves was scheduled to open the four-fight preliminary card on FOX Sports 1. In its place, a women s bantamweight bout between Talita Bernardo and Irene Aldana has been moved up from the early preliminary card on UFC Fight Pass. The event will continue with 12 bouts instead of 13.

UFC Fight Night 124 takes place at Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri on Sunday, Jan. 14. In the main event, longtime featherweight contender Jeremy Stephens meets rising star Doo Ho Choi.
