Target Is Launching Same-Day Delivery, and Our Bank Accounts Are Officially Doomed

Get the Full StoryAs if it wasn't already, shopping at Target just got a lot more tempting. Following the acquisition of a new delivery platform, Target is expected to introduce same-day delivery to customers early on in the coming year.

On Dec. 13, the retail giant acquired Shipt, the grocery delivery service largely popular due to its speedy shipping options. The 550 million acquisition was done in an effort to improve Target's own delivery capabilities. Ray Young, a retail analyst at Gordon Haskett Research Advisors, told WWD, "Same-day delivery will soon be par for the course in the same way that free two-day shipping and buy-online-pick-up-in-store has become standard."

Here's how it's projected to work: customers will pay 99 annually to access Target's same-day delivery. Though the option will only be available at half of Target's stores in early 2018, the majority of stores will offer same-day delivery by the holidays next year. Groceries, home products, and electronics will be included in the initial round, and nearly all merchandise will be available by the end of 2019. Though the subscription fee is pricey, it could save you a lot of time and money in the long run - especially if you're an avid Target shopper.
