Ryan Murphy Is The Latest Producer Skipping TV Town For Streaming

Get the Full StoryNetflix is that selfish bitch at the Loehmann s bridal sale who swipes every dress just cuz. It s bringing in movie actors to do streaming, and then it snatched away Shonda Rhimes from ABC. The streaming network has struck again, as it appears to have won over Ryan Murphy with the promise of free range on a host of projects. Just kidding, Netflix probably won him over by tossing 300 million at him.

The New York Times says Ryan s five-year deal is one of the biggest deals ever made for a producer. Ryan is making a lot more than Shonda s 100 million deal. Rude because Meredith Grey is still bringing in those ratings after 672 seasons!

Ryan s contract with 21st Century Fox expires this summer, and he ll move to Netflix in July. Without Ryan, I guess this means FX is going to look a lot like the empty, seedy mall on the wrong side of the tracks. Fox tried to keep him, and Amazon also was in talks to win him over, but apparently the uncertainty surrounding the Disney Fox merger is what sealed the deal. Ryan is super tight with current leadership, and they don t have a certain future considering Mickey Mouse is going to be running the show going forward. Netflix previously said it would spend 8 billion on original content this year, so Mickey might have to start ordering off the value menu if he s going to compete with that kind of fiscal dick laying on the table.

Ryan already has a relationship with Netflix. Last September, he inked a deal with Netflix for a series based on Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest. Just last week, it was announced he was working with the streaming network on a project that might include Barbra Streisand and Gwyneth Paltrow, which I really hope is just Babs singing passages from the Goop magazine to the tune of Don t Rain On My Parade. That s all fine and dandy, but I hope Ryan working under the same umbrella as Jane Fonda means he can get to work on Feud: Jane and Megyn Kelly!
