UFC Singapore post-fight bonuses: OSP snags 50K for armbar win

Get the Full StoryCheck out our breakdown of the post-fight bonuses from UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Edwards from Kallang, Singapore. The Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore, was home to a thrilling morning of fights, with 4 T KOs, 3 submissions, and 6 decisions, including 2 split-decisions.

This morning s event saw Donald Cerrone lose a close decision to Leon Edwards, who beat the Cowboy up pretty badly right from the start. Cerrone s record slips to 20-8 following the loss.

The once promising Teruto Ishihara lost again, pushing him to just one win out of his last five, and Song Ya Dong impressed everyone with an outstanding knockout of Felipe Arantes. The Team Alpha Male prospect is definitely a featherweight worth keeping an eye on.

We also got to bear witness to Ovince Saint Preux doing something out of the norm--using a different submission than his trademark Von Flue Von Preux choke.

Performances of the Night: Song Yadong and Ovince Saint Preux

Song Yadong landed an absolutely ridiculous elbow KO on 12-fight UFC veteran Felipe Arantes to get the finish one second before the end of the second round. The two fighters were clinched against the cage--seemingly content to wait out the clock--when Yadong s elbow went singing through the air like a right hook from hell, dropping Arantes immediately, as it landed behind the ear, and the follow up shots on the ground were just an exclamation point as the ref stepped in to wave it off, giving Song the win and a 50,000 bonus.

Ovince Saint Preux has become something of a submission machine in his recent UFC appearances, with three of his last four wins coming by way of tapout. Tyson Pedro had OSP in trouble early on the feet, but made the mistake of going for a standing guillotine that let the Tennessean recover. Seconds later, Saint Preux reversed a takedown attempt, got dominant position, and tried to rip Pedro s arm in half. Tyson wisely tapped, which gave OSP his 11th UFC victory and a 50K bonus check.

Fight of the Night: Rolando Dy vs Shane Young

Rolando Dy and Shane Young put on one hell of a fight, both willing to stand and bang in the early going. Young scored the first takedown, and while Dy was able to get back to his feet, Shane was the aggressor, pushing Dy back against the fence. Both men were trading heavy shots as the bell ended the round.

The second round opens with Dy landing a clean combo that made Young rethink his options. The two stood toe-to-toe trading hard elbows and punches, but Dy looked to be getting the better shots in. Then he got tired, and Young, like a shark in freshly chummed waters, put Dy on rollerskates with a big elbow followed by a crisp combination that put the 26-year-old Filipino to the canvas. The ref called the fight at 4:40 of Round two, but both men get 50,000 smackers for their trouble.
