On Wednesday, UFC women s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg said on Twitter that she has agreed to a fight against women s bantamweight champion and fellow Brazilian Amanda Nunes at UFC 228. Cyborg is coming off her second successful UFC title defense, a first-round TKO of Invicta FC veteran Yana Kunitskaya, at UFC 222 this past March. Prior to that, she beat former UFC bantamweight champ Holly Holm by five-round decision.

Cyborg won the vacant belt with a stoppage of former Invicta FC titleholder Tonya Evinger at UFC 214 last summer.

Nunes is coming off a fifth-round TKO win over Raquel Pennington two months ago in her third 135-pound title defense. She also holds wins over Valentina Shevchenko and Ronda Rousey, which followed her title victory over Miesha Tate at UFC 200 in 2016.

Most of Nunes MMA career has taken place in the bantamweight division. The last time she competed at 145 pounds was against Julia Budd in 2011. She won by early knockout.

UFC 228 takes place at American Airlines Center in Dallas on Sept. 8. No bouts have been confirmed for the card as of now.
