The occasion of the mugshot was that Manafort was moved to a jail in Alexandria, Virginia thanks to his attorneys in a move that can only be described as a "clusterfuck."

Manafort was previously being held at a rural Virginia jail about two hours from Washington, D.Cwhere he bragged about a "VIP" lifestyle, which included not having to wear a prison jumpsuit, getting to use his laptop.
