Kim Kardashian And Kris Jenner Defend Kylie Jenner Against Those Who Argue She Isn’t Self-Made

Get the Full StoryWhen Forbes said that Kylie Jenner could potentially be the youngest self-made billionaire last week, a whole lot were made. “Self-made” would imply that Kylie hoisted herself up by the straps of her 1600 Balmain boots to start an almost-billion dollar cosmetics empire. The reality is that Kylie most likely had more help than her lips.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner would disagree. According to them, Kylie totally made it on her own and it had nothing to do with her famous last name or siblings.

UsWeekly says that Kris sat down with the family’s fan club president, Harvey Levin, for an upcoming episode of Fox News’ OBJECTified. Kris explained that when Kylie was 17, she sat her momager down for a meeting and announced “I want to do my own makeup.” Kris brags that Kylie set up meetings, chose colors, executed the final product to her specifications, and sold out on the spot. Okay, so what about the part where self-made Kylie had to melt her own crayons and beeswax over a hotplate in her studio apartment for the lip kit prototype and beg for start-up cash on Shark Tank? I guess Kris forgot that chapter of the story.

Now for Kim’s deluded thoughts on the matter. Kim was so sick and tired of people accusing her littlest sister of not being self-made, that Kim called up Refinery 29 to set the record straight. It doesn’t matter that Kim single-assedly rocketed the family from “The kids of O.J.’s lawyer” to mega fame whores. Kylie did it all on her own.

“I really didn’t get it, because she is ‘self-made’ – we are all ‘self-made.’ What, because we came from a family that has had success? To me, that doesn’t really make sense. I know so many people like that who haven’t turned out to be as successful as Kylie. If anything, I’ve seen the complete opposite.

Me, Kylie, not one of the siblings has ever depended on our parents for anything besides advice. That’s how I lived my life with my dad. He never gave me anything. We might have the opportunity, but I ve seen it go the complete opposite way. Nobody works harder than my sisters and my mom.”

Kim seems to be forgetting that her and her sisters have had a considerable leg-up on other self-titled “entrepreneurs” by being born rich and becoming almost instantly famous. Or the fact that Kylie already had millions of potential customers ready to throw money at her for lipstick, thanks to her considerable social media following. But no, poor Kylie did it all on her own, and she’ll become a billionaire off her own efforts. Or with the help of dumb people who have been donating money to a joke GoFundMe campaign created to help Kylie crack a billion.

But Kim isn’t exactly wrong when she says that some rich and famous people have tried and failed at success. I mean, look at her own family. How many times Kris has tried to make Khloe happen? Not to mention Rob Kardashian. While Kylie Jenner is on her way to becoming a billionaire, Rob is quickly on his way to…a consignment clothing shop, to see how much money he can get for several hundred boxes of unsold socks.
