On Tuesday, Trump attempted to mop up the mess made during his joint press conference with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland, by saying he meant to use a double negative.

On the issue of Russia's meddling with the 2016 election, Trump said, "The sentence should have been, 'I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russia" so, just to repeat it, I said the word 'would' instead of 'wouldn't'... sort of a double negative."
