Blumhouse s Halloween Sequel Features A Cute Nod To The Original

Get the Full StoryAs clich d as it sounds, Halloween is really a film that’s being made by the fans, for the fans. And don’t we know all about it.

Since climbing aboard, David Gordon Green and Danny McBride have crafted their own unique take on the legend of Michael Myers AKA The Shape , beginning with a swift retcon of all Halloween sequels in order to narrow down the focus to John Carpenter’s original classic from 1978.

But while Green and McBride have decided to trim the fat away from this most classic horror franchise, Halloween still contains one or two nods to the Myers legacy including a particularly subtle reference to Season of the Witch, which was originally spotted by Bloody Disgusting in the aftermath of June’s debut trailer.

And today? One curious Twitter user has noticed that the hat hanging behind Laurie and Karen Strode Jamie Lee Curtis and Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s Judy Greer, respectively is actually the same one from Laurie’s bedroom 40 years ago…

Not only is this a subtle callback to the John Carpenter classic, but it’s another example of writer-director David Gordon Green and Danny McBride peppering Halloween‘s DNA all throughout their horror sequel.

Because make no mistake, there’s a very good chance that Halloween will be remembered as one of 2018’s scariest releases up there with Hereditary and A Quiet Place for sheer terror. There is one big difference, of course; Blumhouse’s resurrected gem has the nostalgia factor on its side, which may well prove pivotal once the box office receipts are counted in October.

Halloween comes knocking on October 19th, and at least for the time being, Blumhouse currently has no plans for a direct sequel.
