Rogan wants to see Khabib-Ferguson instead of McGregor rematch

Despite his thrilling performance against Anthony Pettis earlier this month, there hasn t been much talk of Tony Ferguson in the aftermath of UFC 229.El Cucuy extended his win streak to 11 after earning a stoppage victory over Showtime in in the gripping UFC 226 co-main event, earning a Fight of the Night bonus for his efforts.
Despite Ferguson earning a dominant win over yet another former lightweight champion, much of the talk has been on a possible rematch between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor, who squared off in the UFC 229 main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
After submitting McGregor with a face crank in the fourth round, Nurmagomedov leapt over the cage and attacked McGregor s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coach Dillon Danis, which triggered an all-out brawl inside the Octagon.
Fans want to see both fighters run it back inside the cage, but longtime UFC commentator and renowned podcast host Joe Rogan doesn t think McGregor s performance warrants a rematch.
There s all this talk about a Conor rematch cause financially that would be a fantastic fight, right? Rogan said on a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, per Damon Martin of MMA News. Financially. But when you look at what happened, that was a dominant victory. There was one round where Conor did pretty good, the third round. Other than that, Khabib just sort of dominated him.
Dropped him in the second, beat the f king s t out of him in the fourth and the third was the round where Conor did pretty good cause most of was standing up. But it wasn t like he won it running away. It wasn t like he blasted him in the body and had him hurt. There was nothing like that. He edged him.
Rogan, who called the action from ringside, would like to see Khabib defend his title against Ferguson. Khabib vs. Ferguson has been booked on four separate occasions in the past but both men have yet to make the walk to the Octagon.
I guess you could say that s sort of what happened in the Nate Diaz fight and Conor came back and won the rematch. This is the argument, Rogan said. Conor was rusty, he s out of the cage for two years, he gets back in, let s do a rematch and then financially I mean Jesus Christ, it was the biggest fight of all time. They re saying it was above 2.4 million pay-per-view buys, which is f king bananas. So that s huge. If they could talk people into a rematch, I get it.
But I don t want to see that. I want to see Tony Ferguson . I want to see Tony and Khabib.
While many hardcore fans want to see just that, Nurmagomedov has boldly called for a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and has even teased at a move to Bellator MMA.
McGregor, the former featherweight and lightweight champion, has called for an immediate rematch with the undefeated Dagestani.
