Dune Reboot Adds Another Avengers: Endgame Star

Get the Full StoryThough Josh Brolin s run as Thanos might well be coming to a close in a couple of months with Avengers: Endgame, the star has already been snatched up for another major space adventure, with Deadline reporting that the Oscar nominee has joined the all-star cast of Denis Villeneuve s Dune.

Legendary Entertainment has so far nabbed quite a few Marvel regulars for the upcoming adaptation of Frank Herbert s classic novel, having already enlisted Thor s Stellan Skarsg rd and Dave Bautista of Guardians of the Galaxy fame. Starring as Paul Atreides, meanwhile, is Call Me by Your Name s Timoth e Chalamet, who heads a cast that also features Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem.

So far, Brolin s role has yet to be specified, but if it wasn t clear before that Legendary was going all out with the cast of this feature, then we sure know it now. Clearly, the studio feels Villeneuve s Dune has the potential to fare a lot better with filmgoers than David Lynch s 1984 take on the source material, which proved a box office bomb at the time but has since developed a cult following. Interestingly, Villeneuve has previously gone on record calling his movie Star Wars for adults, suggesting that the filmmaker won t be afraid to make things a little challenging for viewers.

Though it s unclear when exactly Dune will be making its way to theaters, the production is reportedly aiming to shoot in Budapest and Jordan from this spring onwards, and if Villeneuve s Blade Runner 2049 is anything to go by, then the sets for this production could well turn out to be pretty awe-inspiring. Watch this space for more on what s already looking like a fascinating project.
