This American Idol Audition Was So Good, the Judges Got Out of Their Seats to Be Closer

The 27-year-old former dental hygienist had judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan so in awe with her recent American Idol audition that they literally got out of their seats to be closer to her. Hess performed Nora Jones's classic "Don't Know Why" with a piano rendition that obviously got her a ticket to Hollywood, but it was her late journey in the music industry that was even more shocking."I honestly never imagined this was how it was going to go, but I'm not upset about it," Hess said as Bryan, Richie, and Perry piled on top of each other to stand next to the piano. Even though she had some doubts about her skills, the judges made it very clear how insanely talented she is. "You could win this competition! WAKE UP!" Perry said, to which Bryan added, "No more tartar removal for you!"
With contestants like Myra Tran, Alejandro Aranda, and now Hess, it's clear season 17 of American Idol is filled with some impressive competition, but we can't wait to see how Hess develops in the upcoming weeks. Watch her audition video above, then check out emotional auditions from this season.
