Miley Cyrus Breaks Down in Tears During Tribute to Late Voice Contestant Janice Freeman

Get the Full StoryMiley Cyrus held back tears during a sweet tribute to her late friend Janice Freeman at a memorial service held in her honor on Monday in Irvine, CA. Janice - who competed on Miley's team on season 13 of The Voice - passed away on March 2 from "an extreme case of pneumonia and a blood clot." She was 33.

During the second half of Janice's memorial service - which was live streamed on Facebook - the 26-year-old singer took the stage to sing a bluesy version of "Amazing Grace" with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. "Before we sing this song for Janice, I just want to clear up a rumor. I was never her coach. Ever. She was always mine," Miley started off. "I learned more from her than anyone that I've ever gotten the honor to be in the room with, not just vocally. I should've gotten more lessons than I did, but she taught me everything that I know about love."

Following the news of Janice's death, Miley mourned her teammate with a handful of tribute posts on Instagram. "I miss you so much it hurts. Everywhere ..... but so did you. So often. So much pain and no one would ever notice because of the smile and joy you constantly radiated," she captioned a photo on March 4. "I am trying my best today to celebrate your existence but I can't help but just deeply mourn over your absence." Janice is survived by her husband, Dion, daughter Hannah, mother Janice, and brothers and sisters.
