These Photos of Long, Curly Hair Will Inspire Your Next Style

Get the Full StoryThose of you with curly hair might know the struggle involved with getting your ringlets to spiral downward to your desired length. Once you finally get there, however, it's worth the hard work. Because of the time and effort involved with caring for your ringlets, finding a hairstylist who will enhance your hair and is trained in cutting your hair type is essential.

Because curly hair looks much longer when it's wet, celebrity hairstylist Linet K advised you find a hairstylist who specializes in dry cuts and explained that if your stylist tries to cut your wet hair, it's time to start looking for a new one. "A good hairstylist knows how to cut hair wet or dry," Linet said. "Cutting curly hair when it's dry helps the stylist see where the curl naturally springs and falls to avoid cutting a layer too short."

If you want to keep your length but need a trim, ask for some long layers to keep the bottom of your hair from looking too heavy. "The layers help the structure of the hair from looking like the shape of a Christmas tree," she explained.

Once your salon visit is over, you'll need to maintain the health of your curls to keep them looking their best. Linet suggested investing in a great leave-in conditioner and making sure to only dry your hair with a diffuser. "The diffuser will help keep the curls frizz-free with a beautiful bounce," Linet explained. Keeping frizz at bay will also ensure your curls stay looking their best. Use a hydrating mask once a week to keep them soft and defined, and only brush through them with a wide-tooth comb and plenty of detangler spray while they're still wet.
