Hot Slut Of The Day!

Get the Full StoryGhost Castle!

Fireball Island, the greatest board game that ever existed in the history of greatest board games, took up about 98 of my closet space, but it was worth every single centimeter of real estate, because it brought hours upon hours of wondrous entertainment, and melted parts of my young brain from what a technological 3D wonder it was. Today s HSOTD, Ghost Castle, sort of kind of falls under that category too. But even though it didn t cause chirrun to suffer from pre-hypertension over the blood pressure-raising thrilling gameplay, it was still a 3D masterpiece!

Ghost Castle first came out in the 1970s as Which Witch?, and Board Game Geek said it was released in the UK as Ghost Castle. But either I lived in the UK as a child without knowing it, or Which Witch? came out as Ghost Castle in the US too, because that s what I remember it as and the commercial below ain t in THE QUEEN s English . The board for Ghost Castle was a haunted castle, complete with a magnificent staircase that would even give Norma Desmond the swoons, and your goal was to stop the haunting by cleansing the soul of the ghost by shutting the coffin at the top of the stairs. The game basically turned you into a regular Ed and Lorraine Warren, but better! Board Game Geek explains it like this:

Along the way players draw cards that either: a turn you into a mouse can t move , b turn you back into a child if you are a mouse, or c have you drop the whammy ball down the chimney. The whammy ball comes out in one of the four quadrants of the game board and makes something move witch s broom, secret door, etc. . If a player s pawn or mouse is hit by the ball or moving object it is sent backwards to a safe spot.

The truth is that even if I asked for Ghost Castle for Christmas or my birthday, my abuelita would ve never allowed that blasfemo la bruja shit into out house. She would ve thrown holy water at it before burning it in the backyard and burying its ashes. Or maybe she d let me play with it, hoping that it d spook me quiet and she could watch her novellas in peace!
