Robert De Niro s Company Is Suing An Ex-Employee For Watching Too Much Netflix At Work

Get the Full StoryOut of the grey, desolate bleakness, a new hero has emerged. Show me a woman who managed to, in 4 days, watch 55 episodes of Friends at work while getting paid, and I ll show you an icon. Her name is Chase Robinson, but instead of being rewarded for her astounding achievements in workplace don t-give-a-fuckatude, she s being punished with a 6 million dollar lawsuit brought on by her former employer, Robert De Niro. Sure, Chase may have also been accused of a little light embezzlement on the side, but how else was she supposed to eat lunch while watching Netflix at work if not for the Canal Productions company credit card? Did Bobby expect her to bring a bologna sandwich from home or some shit? Hell to the naw.

Variety reports that while she was employed as Vice President of Production and Finance at Bobby s loan-out company Canal Productions, Chase did what I m sure most of us have only dared to dabble in at work. She had the company buy her lunch and caught up on some shows while nobody was looking. But unlike us namby pamby rule followers, Chase had the balls to go big AND go home.

The company says she rarely came into the office, and alleges she spent astronomical amounts of time watching Netflix during work hours. The company alleges that during a four-day period in January, she watched 55 episodes of Friends. On one of those days, she ordered lunch from Caviar San Francisco and had dinner at Paola s Restaurant, charging both meals on the company card.

In other words, Chase excelled in using her time efficiently and thoroughly completed all tasks set in front of her. She s also accused of racking up exorbitant hotel and restaurant charges and using millions of De Niro s frequent flyer miles for her personal trips which means she s also good at maximizing the resources at her disposal. Chase should have been served an Employee Of The Year award instead of some boring ass papers in a manila envelope that she probably threw right in the recycling bin because she keeps a tidy office.

Over another four-day period in March, she allegedly watched 20 episodes of Arrested Development and 10 episodes of Schitt s Creek.

And?! Where is the issue? Apparently, Chase was hired by Bobby as an assistant back in 2008 before being promoted to VP of Production and Finance. Her 2019 salary was 300,000. However, she left the company in April, amid growing concerns about alleged corporate sabotage . But Chase saw things differently. In her resignation email, Chase called the allegations of excessive spending ridiculous and followed that up by writing herself a letter of recommendation which Bobby rudely refused to sign.

Watching shows on Netflix was not in any way part of or related to the duties and responsibilities of Robinson s employment and, on information and belief, was done for her personal entertainment, amusement and pleasure at times when she was being paid to work, the suit alleges.

What else is there to say. Chase is an absolute legend.
