Kanye West s Low-Income Housing Project Is Pissing Off His Neighbors
Get the Full StoryKanye West announced last month that his latest questionable project was a low-income prefabricated domed housing project, inspired by Star Wars, that was being built in the middle of the woods in California. I m sure we all figured Kanye s attempt at a housing solution would turn out to be a mess. I pictured a family inserting the keys to their new house into the front door and discovering that their new house was nothing more than a poorly-constructed 2D facade stolen from a dumpster behind Lucasfilm. As it turns out, it s a mess before anyone has ever moved in. The houses are domed, and it sounds like they re doomed. Are you shocked? We re all shocked!Kanye s initial production happened at an undisclosed location somewhere near the San Francisco area. At some point, Kanye decided to begin production at his home in Calabasas. But he didn t get a building permit, and Page Six says that his neighbors ratted him out. LA County Sheriff deputies made a visit to Kanye and Kim Kardashian s house on Sunday after receiving numerous calls complaining of nighttime construction. Building inspectors also made a visit to Kanye s work site, and they reportedly found the structures were permanent, not prototypes, which violated building codes.
Unless a building permit is obtained by September 15th, Kanye will be forced to demolish the domes in his backyard. This is what construction looked like a few weeks ago. Note: those domes are reportedly fifty feet high. Coincidentally, you d have to be that high to think this was a good idea.

Hearing that Kanye has been building Star Wars houses in the dead of night in his own backyard is exactly where I figured this project would go. The only things missing from his shady work site are a rotting piece of plywood with the words KEEP OUT NO PEEKING spray painted on it, and a port-a-potty that doubles as 2 4 storage.
So will Kanye get that permit? He s rich, so yeah probably. I just can t understand how Kim Kardashian let him build that in their backyard? Wait I think I got it. Kim snuck a peek outside and saw all those huge, garish artificial domes, and figured her husband was creating a giant monument to herself.
