Open Post: Hosted By The Great Golden Toilet Heist

Get the Full StoryIt s a sad state of affairs when people go around stealing toilets. I don t care if it s regular porcelain or, in this case, made out of 100 solid gold; it s still a damn toilet. People do all kinds of nasty shit literally inside of them so you d have to be a desperate bitch to run off with someone s shitter. Especially one that was placed inside of a historic monument.

This recent caper comes from England where Italian artist Maurizio Cattalan unveiled his masterpiece, a 5 million solid gold toilet called America at Blenheim Palace, which is Winston Churchill s birthplace. Oh, but this wasn t just an art piece. Mashable reports that Maurizio wanted a more interactive experience with this particular work of art.

While it is an art piece, the toilet is actually fully functioning and was hooked up to the palace s plumbing facilities. When the thieves removed it, they caused flooding and significant damage.

Who the hell steals a toilet? And better yet, how have they not found the people that did this because as of now it s still missing.

The toilet was stolen from the palace around 4:50 a.m. local time by a group of people, according to a statement from Thames Valley Police. Although police have not yet recovered the toilet, they did arrest a 66-year-old man in connection with the heist.

This just goes to show you that people will steal anything if it s gold. Or in this case, gold that s been subjected to tons of golden showers.
