UFC Sao Paulo results: Oliveira wipes out Gordon

On the UFC Sao Paulo main card, Charles Oliveira ran right through Jared Gordon, scoring a first-round knockout. The UFC Sao Paulo main card is underway, and the promotion s #13 ranked lightweight Charles Oliveira just knocked out Jared Gordon in less than 90 seconds. Oliveira already owns the record for most wins by submission in UFC history, but now he s knocking fools out. He extends his winning streak to six, and called out Conor McGregor and Paul Felder in his post-fight interview.

Before that, Andre Muniz took all the scorecards in his decision win over Antonio Arroyo. He leaned on his superior grappling top get the win, nearly taking home an arm in the first round. Making good on his UFC debut, Muniz has now won five-straight. He seems like a solid addition to the promotion s middleweight roster. Opening up the main card, Wellington Turman picked up a hard-fought unanimous decision over the quite game Markus Perez. Turman definitely had to earn this one, and walked away with his first UFC win to advance to 16-3 in his professional career. It was quite a showing from someone only 23 years of age.

Main card:

Charles Oliveira def. Jared Gordon by KO at 1:26 of round 1: Lightweight

Gordon came out and tried for a takedown against the prolific grappler. Oliveira instantly scrambled and the fight went back to its feet. Gordon came forward and landed a jab, but Oliveira clipped him with a right that staggered him. Oliveira then landed a gorgeous uppercut that dropped Gordon. He followed up with one strike before the referee came in to rescue the fallen fighter. Yikes!

Andre Muniz def. Antonio Arroyo by unanimous decision 30-27 x3 : Middleweight

Arroyo started hot. He landed a big body kick and then flurried with his hands. He scored a takedown but was quickly defending a really tight armbar. Muniz gets up and gets himself a takedown. As Arroyo went to stand, Muniz landed an illegal knee that looked to actually be legal on the replay. The ref stopped the action and reset the fighters on the feet. Muniz got himself a takedown in the second round and quickly took the back. He worked for a face crank before taking the full mount. Arroyo was able to escape by using a leg lock, and then entered the full guard of his opponent. Not much happened there.

Muniz was quick to get a takedown in the final act. He landed several short shots before taking the back. Arroyo escaped back to his feet with Muniz still on the canvas. He spent a lot of time hovering over his foe, landing single strikes here and there. The ref stood them back up, but nothing happened before the bell.

Wellington Turman def. Markus Perez by unanimous decision 30-27 x3 :Middleweight

Turman closed the distance to open up the fight. He got a slamming takedown but it was short-lived. From the clinch, Perez landed a set of hard elbows, and even got off with a spinning backfist. In open space, Perez was throwing fancy moves while Turman was scoring with more practical strikes. The second round saw Turman trying to close the distance again behind his punches. Each fighter was landing solid blows, with Turman getting the better of them. When Turman did get the takedown, Perez was able to get up without sustaining damage.

Turman turned it up in the final act. He was able to close the distance and grind on his opponent. He was able to get the takedown and force his foe to carry his weight. Perez stood back up towards the end of the round. He started to land his strikes, even briefly hurting Turman with a spinning backfist. The fighters slugged it out for the closing moments of the fight.
