Kim Kardashian Works to Promote Prison Reform in Powerful Trailer For The Justice Project

Get the Full StoryKim Kardashian has released the official trailer for her upcoming documentary, Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project. On Jan. 18, the 39-year-old aspiring lawyer dropped the two-minute clip, which shows her efforts to promote prison reform. It features Kardashian, who is the executive producer, meeting with several inmates whose lives were upended by harsh, and often unwarranted, prison sentences. She also speaks with some of the friends and family members affected by the incarceration of their loved ones. "I went into this knowing nothing, and then my heart completely opened up," she says in the teaser. "People deserve a second chance."

Kardashian first revealed that she's studying to become a lawyer last Spring. The announcement came nearly a year after she helped release prisoner Alice Marie Johnson - a grandmother who was serving a life sentence without parole for a first-time nonviolent drug offense. Despite some pushback regarding her legal pursuits, Kardashian has continued to prove that she's dedicated to making a positive change. Back in June, she even visited the White House to present a new ride-sharing partnership with Lyft that will give former prisoners gift cards to help them travel to and from job interviews. We'll get to learn even more about her efforts when Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project premieres April 5 on Oxygen!
