Just What We Needed! Megyn Kelly Has Additional Thoughts On Blackface

Get the Full StoryAs if our current national discourse in #thesetryingtimes wasn t breathtakingly stupid enough as it is, Megyn Kelly, America s least qualified practitioner of critical race theory has come out of retirement to complain loudly about being fired for defending blackface. After Robert Downey Jr. said he didn t regret doing blackface for Tropic Thunder during an interview on The Joe Rogan Experience, Megyn #tooktotwitter to bemoan the fact that Universal applauded RDJ for sparking a necessary convo but fired her for doing the same. Friends, this shit is so dumb, it s difficult to even know where to start. Like, I almost want to start by reminding you that, per Megyn s Twitter bio, her children are named Yates, Yardley, and Thatcher. It s as relevant as anything Megyn had to say, if not more!

Here s Megyn s shot across the bow. Yes, I think we can handily blame Charlize Theron for emboldening Megyn to think anyone cares what she has to say about racism, sexism, or any kind of ism jism included! for that matter.

R. Downey Jr: wears blackface for Universal w o regret bc it sparked a necessary convo. Univer.: yay Robert!Me: Never worn blackface but had one of those necessary convos re how standard seems to have changed over time.NBC-Univer: F.U.! Cancelled! https: t.co t1uIj6chPJ

People reminds us:

NBC pulled Megyn Kelly Today off the air in October 2018 after the host questioned whether wearing blackface as part of a Halloween costume is actually racist. Kelly and an all-white panel were discussing campus attempts to discourage inappropriate and offensive costumes, when she asked: But what is racist? Because truly, you do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface at Halloween or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween. Back when I was a kid, that was okay as long as you were dressing up as like a character.

If we re being generous, we can award Megyn one pity point since when RDJ did blackface, he was in fact dressed up as a character, and in this instance, it was OK. However, it was OK because RDJ was dressed up as a white character A white character who thinks its OK to do blackface as long as you are dressing up like a character. Can we please have Charlize sit her down and explain the difference to her? It s her mess, let her fix it. Luckily for Charlize, there were plenty of people on Twitter who had the time to let Megyn know where her logic and research had failed.

You specifically DEFENDED blackface, Megyn. The whole point of RDJ's character was to mock Hollywood whitewashed casting and reinforce that blackface is shitty and bad.

Also TT was a Dreamworks movie released in 2008, before Universal owned Dreamworks. https: t.co pvXtCPLTBk

Is it an S or a math? tonygoldmark January 23, 2020

You know, yesterday when I read Kristin s post about RDJ, the primary takeaway for me was RDJ laughing about getting to be black for the summer, a takeaway I chose to leave behind. I tried my best to move on but thanks to Megyn, here we are again so I ll just add my two cents. That was not a cool thing to say, RDJ, and I m sure 90 of your black friends would agree. And no, white friends in blackface don t count!
