Disney Plus got a huge boost in app downloads from the 'Hamilton' movie

The "Hamilton" movie debuted on Disney Plus on Friday.

Disney Plus mobile app downloads were 72.4 higher in the US over the weekend than the average of the four previous June weekends, according to analytics company Apptopia.

Another mobile analytics company, Sensor Tower, said that Disney Plus app downloads were 79 higher globally compared to the previous weekend of June 26 to June 28.

Disney acquired worldwide rights to the "Hamilton" movie earlier this year for 75 million, according to Deadline, and originally planned to release it to theaters in 2021.
