It looks like Thiago Santos is healed up from his brutal knee injury and ready to return to action against longtime top contender Glover Teixeira. It seems that the healing process is complete for former light heavyweight title challenger Thiago Santos. After fighting Jon Jones to a split decision back in July 2019, Marreta came away from the bout with a totally blown left knee and a partially torn right ACL. A year later, however, ESPN reports that Santos is set for a headlining fight against seasoned veteran Glover Teixeira for mid-September.

Outside of Santos 27-1 controversial split decision loss to Jones last year, the 36-year-old found himself on a four-fight winning streak. Having picked up victories against Kevin Holland, Eryk Anders, Jimi Manuwa and Jan Blachowicz.

On the other side, Glover Teixeira 31-7 will look for the fifth straight win of his current run of strong showings. In his past outings, the 40-year-old bested Karl Roberson, Ion Cutelaba, Nikita Krylov and Anthony Smith, with three of those wins coming inside the distance. His last defeat dates back to a unanimous decision loss to Corey Anderson, in July 2018.

No location for the September card has been announced, with the UFC unclear whether or not their Las Vegas Apex venue will remain an option during the ongoing pandemic. Currently, no other fights have been announced for the card. Stay tuned to Bloody Elbow for more news and notes for the event in the coming weeks.
