This Coming 2 America Makeup Collection Is All About Celebrating African Beauty

Get the Full StoryComing 2 America, the sequel to the 1988 movie starring Eddie Murphy, premieres globally on Amazon Prime Video on March 5, 2021, and Uoma Beauty is launching a limited-edition makeup collection in collaboration with it called Black Magic Coming 2 America. The new nine-piece line celebrates African beauty and the continent's diverse cultural heritage.

Inspired by Zamunda, the fictional country where Prince Akeem hails from, the cosmetics line "draws from African royalty from all over the continent," according to the press release. Uoma Beauty founder Sharon Chuter wrote in a statement on the brand's website, "This is my most personal collection to date, it is my ode to my heritage, my culture, and most of all an ode to the Black skinned beauty for she is the mother of all beauty."

A 10-shade eyeshadow palette, three lipstick shades, two mini eyeshadow palettes, two eyeliners, and a highlighter palette make up the exclusive line. The packaging, as well as the product and shade names themselves, all pay tribute to Africa's rich history.

"This is my most personal collection to date, it is my ode to my heritage, my culture, and most of all an ode to the Black skinned beauty for she is the mother of all beauty."

Uoma Beauty launched a stunning campaign to coincide with the new collection, which features some of the original costumes from the film by Ruth E. Carter and showcases the work of creatives like makeup artist Sir John, costume designer Zerina Akers, and multi-media visual artist Trevor Stuurman. The campaign "takes the virtues of nine of the greatest queens of Africa Amina, Yaa Asantewaa, Kandake Amanirenas, Nefertiti, Makeda, Nzinga Mbande, Nandi, Moremi, and Ranavalona - and distills them into five odes represented as "The Black Skinned Beauty" portraits Courage, Pride, Heritage, Opulence, and Resilience."

The Black Magic Coming 2 America Collection is available at UOMABeauty.com as of March 4 and will be on Ulta Beauty, Nordstrom, Walmart, and Beautylish websites on March 5.
