The FBI Says That The Gun In The Rust Shooting Could Not Have Gone Off By Itself And The Trigger Was Pulled

Get the Full StoryWell, the FBI should prepare for several voicemails from an extra ragey-voiced Alec Baldwin where he reams them a new one as Hilaria Baldwin spews out several Spanish curse words in the background while reading off of a list of Spanish curse words she Googled just seconds before . Because according to ABC News, the FBI s investigation into the Rust shooting has wrapped up and they ve concluded that the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, and injured director Joel Souza, did not go off by itself and the trigger was pulled. This is despite Alec Baldwin claiming that he never ever pulled the trigger.

It s been nearly a year since Halyna Hutchins was killed on the New Mexico set of Rust, leaving behind her husband Matt Hutchins and their 9-year-old son. The story at the time was that the movie s armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed handed a gun over to assistant director Dave Halls who yelled cold gun, meaning it had no live ammunition in it, before handing it to Alec Baldwin during a camera rehearsal in a church. It was then assumed that Alec pulled the trigger while believing the gun was cold. But then as lawsuits poured in and the District Attorney made it clear that charges may be filed, the ones involved went into damage control and started trying to cover their own asses. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed said through her lawyers that she had no idea how a live round got into a box marked dummy rounds and later filed a lawsuit against the company that provided the rounds, blaming them. Alec has also been on a mission to push the blame from him, including blaming Halyna.

During an ABC News interview in December, Alec, who is also a producer on Rust, claimed that he didn t pull the gun s trigger and it went off by itself. Alec said at the time that he would never point a gun at someone and then pull the trigger. And he added that someone is responsible for Halyna s death but it s not him. Halyna s husband Matt slammed Alec for not taking any responsibility. The Santa Fe County District Attorney responded to Alec s claim that he didn t pull the trigger, saying that it s possible. But well, according to the FBI s report into the shooting, it s not possible. via ABC News:

Accidental discharge testing determined that the firearm used in the shooting a .45 Colt .45 Long Colt caliber F.lli Pietta single-action revolver could not have fired without the trigger being pulled, the FBI report shows.

With the hammer in the quarter- and half-cock positions, the gun could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger, the report stated.

With the hammer fully cocked, the gun could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger while the working internal components were intact and functional, the report stated.

With the hammer de-cocked on a loaded chamber, the gun was able to detonate a primer without a pull of the trigger when the hammer was struck directly, which is normal for this type of revolver, the report stated.

The FBI s report goes on to say that there s also no evidence that shows a live round was intentionally loaded into the gun.

Review of available law enforcement reports showed no compelling demonstration that the firearm was intentionally loaded with live ammunition on set, the report stated. Based on all available information, including the absence of obvious intent to cause harm or death, the manner of death is best classified as accident.

So the question goes back to: How did a live round get into the gun? Local authorities in New Mexico are close to finishing their investigation and will hand their findings over to the D.A. The D.A. will then decide what charges, if any, will be filed.

Since Alec does not have the ability to STFU, he ll probably give another impromptu roadside press conference with the paps about the FBI s findings and say, When I said that I didn t pull the trigger, I meant Alec Baldwin. You see, being the serious thespian that I am, I was so deep into my character Harland Rust yeah, that s his name that it was actually Harland Rust who pulled the trigger. So direct your lawsuits toward him.
