Get the Full StoryRing Raiders!

Mirco Machines, a line of miniature cars and playsets, took the toy world BY STORM in the 80s and 90s, and I was obsessed with them. Micro Machines were the butchiest toys I owned, which is saying a lot since I owned a highly butch Astronaut Barbie that I stole from my sister . But, of course, since MicroMachines was a hit, shameless copycats flew in to get a piece of that mini toy pie. And Ring Raiders was one of them.

Ring Raiders may sound like an Indiana Jones parody about an explorer who searches for butt rings What? That s just me who thinks that , but it was a line of mini plane rings from toy company Matchbox. Ring Raiders came out in the late-80s, just a couple of years after Micro Machines made its debut in 1986. The Ring Raiders line was made up of tiny replica planes from World War II to the 80s, and each was mounted on a plastic ring. You slipped on the Ring Raider ring and watched as your friends fell over from the excitement of you flying your plane through the skies by moving your hand around. There were some add-on toys to the line, as well. This Ring Raiders commercial also features the Battle Blaster, a wrist speaker that made plane noises . Behold, this is what entertained us for hours in the 80s!

The Ring Raiders toy line was also spun off into a cartoon series that only lasted five episodes. And the Ring Raiders toy line itself only lasted six months. But I m sure after all these years, the memory of Ring Raiders lives on. Like, if you told me that Tom Cruise wore a Ring Raider as a cock ring all through the filming of Top Gun: Maverick, I wouldn t call you a liar and would instead say, Oh, so that was the lucky charm that helped make Maverick a hit!
