Celine Dion Cancels The Rest Of Her World Tour As She Continues Treatment For Stiff Person Syndrome

Like its very strange name suggests, SPS causes progressively worse muscle stiffness and repeated episodes of painful spasms. There is no cure.

Let s rewind to last April. 55-year-old Celine announced she was postponing the second half of her Courage World Tour from May 2022 to February 2023 due to her spasms. Now, the original-original dates for these European shows were way back in 2020, but, you know, PANDEMIC. Fast-forward to Celine s SPS announcement in December. She revealed that her health troubles had once again forced her to reschedule. This time, the shows were pushed to August 2023. They would have run until April 2024. Today, Celine s fans received a bummer update. The entire tour has been canceled so Celine can continue treatment for SDS.

Celine and her team shared the announcement on social media and her official website. They write that Celine has continued to be treated for a diagnosed medical condition that prevents her from performing Celine has said SPS affects her ability to walk and sing the way she s used to . They add that she s working hard to recover, but, at this time, she s unable to prepare and perform the remainder of her tour. They say they have hope that someday soon Celine can return to Europe to perform for her amazing fans, but that time simply is not now. Then, a quote from Celine herself:

I m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you re 100 . It s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it s best that we cancel everything now until I m really ready to be back on stage again. I want you all to know, I m not giving up and I can t wait to see you again! said Celine.

The statement goes on to say that Celine s medical team continues to evaluate and treat her condition, and that ticketholders will get refunds. Here s the statement:
