Ian McCall vs. Neil Seery slated for UFC Belfast

Get the Full StoryAfter two fight cancellations just weeks apart, UFC flyweight contender Ian McCall will be headed to Northern Ireland this November. Ian McCall has been incredibly unlucky with fight cancellations in recent weeks. Uncle Creepy is hoping his 3rd attempt at making his 1st Octagon appearance in 2016 will go off without a hitch. UFC officials announced on Tuesday that McCall vs. Neil Seery is set for UFC Fight Night 99 on Saturday, November 19th. The card will take place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the first show in that city since 72 way back in 2007.

McCall 13-5-1 was set to make his return at UFC 201 against Justin Scoggins, but Scoggins was pulled the week of the event due to problems with his weight cut, and has since moved up to bantamweight. The former Tachi Palace Fights champion then was scheduled to face Ray Borg at UFC 203, but Borg withdrew because of illness, also just days out from fight night. McCall was paid his win, show, and Reebok money for the Scoggins fight, but was only guaranteed his show money for the Borg fight, and otherwise didn t expect to receive win and Reebok money. McCall s last fight was a decision loss to John Lineker in January 2015, a fight in which Lineker badly missed weight, hence Lineker s move to 135.

Seery 16-12 is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Japanese sensation Kyoji Horiguchi. Prior to that, 2 tap tapped out Jon Delos Reyes at UFC Dublin last October. The 37-year-old former Cage Warriors flyweight titleholder is 3-3 in his UFC career, and has gone the distance in 5 of his 6 fights. There was recent mutual interest between McCall and Seery in fighting each other, and the UFC has made it happen.

UFC Fight Night 99 will be headlined by a welterweight fight between Gunnar Nelson and Dong Hyun Kim. Later that day, UFC Fight Night 100 takes place in Brasilia, Brazil, with an expected light heavyweight main event featuring Alexander Gustafsson and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
