Ex-UFC fighter Matt Hamill offers to fight Michael Bisping at UFC London

Get the Full StoryMichael Bisping s former opponent Matt Hamill would like a rematch at UFC London. It s been almost eleven years since Matt Hamill fought Michael Bisping in London, England, but there s probably still some debate -- on the far reaches of the world wide web -- over the official decision.

Bisping, who made somewhat of a rivalry with Hamill on The Ultimate Fighter 3, received a tidal wave of online criticism after his split decision victory over The Hammer at UFC 75. It was one of the most controversial and hotly-debated fights at the time, but both fighters eventually moved on and went on different career paths, with no rematch ever booked.

Well that could be about to change, as 41-year-old Hamill has offered to fight The Count in his retirement bout at UFC London on March 17.

Looks like Mike Bisping doesn't want to fight Belfort in London on March 17th. I can fight Bisping before he retire. That's up to UFC. Matt Hamill hammer_hamill January 18, 2018

Hamill was released from the UFC in 2013 and, although promising to retire on several occasions, continued his career on the regional circuit s and is still fighting to this day. The MMA veteran recently snapped a four-fight losing skid at F2N: Fight2Night2, KO ing ex-UFC contender Luiz Cane in the first round.

Bisping, who lost the middleweight title to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217, said he wants to fight someone classy in his retirement bout, which is why he turned down the fight with Vitor Belfort.

A potential rematch with Hamill, as unlikely as it may be, offers a somewhat similar narrative to Bisping s 2016 rematch with Dan Henderson, when the Brit avenged his KO loss at UFC 100 by beating Hendo via unanimous decision on home soil in Manchester, England.

It s highly unlikely, given the different career trajectories of both fighters, but don t be surprised to see Bisping reply to Hamill on his Believe You Me podcast in the coming days.
