Qualcomm, the largest mobile phone chip-maker, has no plans to abandon the data center processors unit it launched last year, according to the company's president.

This new push put it in direct competition with Intel Corp, an industry behemoth that draws half of its revenue from "data centric" chips; Bloomberg recently reported Qualcomm was evaluating its decision to get into data chips.

The company declined to say whether it had considered doing so in the past.
