In the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Edwards the veteran Ovince Saint Preux looked to hold his position in the light heavyweight division against the upstart Australian Tyson Pedro. And it was the vet who walked away the victory in Singapore. After being stunned, dropped, and almost choked, OSP survived and then jumped on a submission that forced Pedro to tap out.

Before that Jessica Eye and Jessica-Rose Clark fought a closely-contested stand-up battle in the flyweight division. Eye got the nod from the judges thanks to a more clinical and technical display than the aggressive Clark. To open the main card Li Jingliang outclassed Daichi Abe on the feet for a comfortable decision victory in the welterweight decision.

Jessica Eye defeats Jessica-Rose Clark by unanimous decision 30-27, 29-28, 29-28 : Flyweight

In an aggressive start to the first round, both women threw combinations. Of those early exchanges, Clark s looked to land cleanest. But Eye then landed a single shot that stopped Clark in her tracks. That looked to be a turning point in the round, forcing Clark to be less willing to step into Eye s range. Eye kept the distance with her jab and Clark landed a few leg kicks before trying her luck in the pocket once again. In the closing seconds Eye found success countering Clark s wild combos.

Both fighters threw kicks to begin the second round and Clark stormed forward with a flurry that half-landed on Eye. Clark followed up with an overhand right that seemed to get Eye s attention. The Australian then threw a lazy kick, but Eye caught her foot and used it to drag her down. A scramble later and the stand-up battled resumed. Clark remained the aggressor, but Eye landed clean strikes as Clark rushed in. Eye was also landing the more diverse offense, with a stiff head kick and clean body shot mixed in with her counter hooks. The round ended against the fence with Clark throwing knees.

In the third Eye looked very composed as she continued to play matador to Clark s bull. However, Clark was able to sneak through Eye s defense on one rush forward. This prompted the American to come forward with a combo of her own, which included a left hand that landed clean on Clark s jaw. Clark looked a little out of ideas in the closing minutes, but she was still coming forwards. Eye caught Clark with a stiff jab and then landed a takedown with less than two minutes left.

On the ground it was all Eye as she landed ground-and-pound and threatened with arm-locks. In the end, the judges gave it to Eye, who showed a much more versatile game than Clark.

Li Jingliang defeats Daichi Abe via unanimous decision 30-26, 30-27, 30-27 : Welterweight

In the first round both Jingliang and Abe looked to respect each other s power. Both landed hard leg kicks and Abe came over the top with a right hook that landed clean. Jingliang caught Abe with a straight jab and the Japanese fighter responded with a headkick that glanced across the Chinese fighter s brow. In the last two minutes, Jingliang moved up a gear and started harrying Abe with long punches. But Abe caught the Leach with a solid body kick and right hook combo, which were the last significant strikes of the round.

Abe attacked the front leg of Jingliang in the opening moments of round two. Jingliang opted for inside leg kicks. At first both fighters looked evenly matched with their hands, as they caught the other with single shots. Jingliang looked to land the heavy blows, though. He sent Abe back into the fence with one of his strikes and stiffened him up momentarily with another. With Abe wobbly, Jingliang targeted the body, sending Abe back to his corner looking tired.

Abe came out lively in the third and landed a head kick, but Jingliang stormed back with heavy hands and another thudding leg kick. Jingliang went from strength to strength after this, catching Abe with clean shots. Abe showed a lot of toughness in shaking off the punishment, but he didn t have anything except one crisp two-punch combo for Jingliang in the closing moments of the fight.
