Roseanne Is Still Trying To Defend That Tweet About Valerie Jarrett

Get the Full StoryAs promised, Roseanne Barr has interviewed herself for her YouTube channel, in an attempt to once again defend herself against the haters who have accused her of tweeting racism at Valerie Jarrett. For anyone wondering if this screen shot was taken out of context, you’re about to see that it’s very much exactly the prime moment of context.

Roseanne was originally planning on sitting down for a TV interview, but not long after, she claimed she didn’t trust anyone and wanted to do it herself. Yesterday, Roseanne dropped what appeared to be a short teaser for her first real interview since getting fired from ABC’s Roseanne revival. TMZ says the voice accompanying her in the video is her 40-year-old son Jake. The clip is a little over a minute long and features a frustrated Roseanne yelling that she wanted to talk about Iran and Valerie Jarrett, the subject of her racist tweet made back in May. As you most likely recall, Roseanne compared Valerie, who is black, to the film Planet of the Apes. And of course, Roseanne’s defense was a mess.

If Roseanne experienced the five stages of grief after the cancellation of her show, then she fast-forwarded through depression and headed straight to anger. Someone clearly woke up on the wrong side of the Ambien. Roseanne says:

“That’s what my tweet was about! I thought the bitch was white! Goddamnit! I thought the bitch was white! Fuck!”

Call me crazy, but if you’re trying to convince people you didn’t have malicious intentions, maybe it’s not a great idea to keep referring to the woman you insulted as “the bitch.” But that sort of proves my point that Roseanne probably should have thought twice about interviewing herself. HGTV has shown me that some DIYs are best left to the professionals, and the same applies here. To be honest, the interview was sort of doomed before Roseanne even sat down. A proper producer would have ensured there was at least a tasteful bouquet of flowers and a comfortable chair. Roseanne’s interview kind of looks like it took place in the break room of an abandoned Museum Company store after Roseanne snuck into a mall after closing time.
