Brok Weaver refuses to accept his disqualification win against Kazula Vargas. Dana White Contender Series alum Brok Weaver was looking to make a strong statement in his first official UFC fight against Kazula Vargas at UFC Rio Rancho. Instead, it ended anti-climactically via disqualification in his favor.

Despite being clearly grounded, Kazula threw a knee to Weaver s head. The referee immediately stepped in to call the fight, which neither fighter was delighted about.

A win like that, it ain t no win in my book, Weaver said in a post-fight interview. In my book, he TKOd me. So, I lost tonight. I just got paid good.

Weaver also isn t blaming Vargas for the illegal strike, which he believes was done in the heat of the moment.

I hold nothing against Vargas, he said. The knee... he s in the moment. I ve been in the moment. I ve kneed people down. It happens sometimes with the adrenaline, it s a big fight.

He was trying to catch me on the way up, he added. It happens, man. I don t blame him. We could run it back if the UFC would allow it.

Two fights later in the co-main event, Diego Sanchez was also awarded with a DQ win via an illegal knee strike from opponent Michel Pereira. That makes UFC Rio Rancho the first event in history to have two fights end by disqualification.
