J.K. Rowling Thinks That Too Many Kids Are Being Converted Into Being Trans

Get the Full StoryI know that every reality we knew prior to January has completely changed, but a couple people were inching towards 2020 energy back in 2019, like J.K. Rowling. Which is all too bad, because I think we can all agree she was much better when she was suing her former assistant for blowing money on body wash and cats. This current J.K. Rowling has a whole lot to say about trans people, and literally none of it is any good. It s almost like a crappy, hateful wizard has cursed J.K. with a spell to completely tarnish what remained of her legacy. Well dramatic wand swirl Plentificus Transphobious, she s once again talking trans issues in a pretty problematic way.

J.K. launched into an 11-tweet thread on Twitter yesterday, after someone called her out for liking a tweet that compared hormone prescriptions to anti-depressants. The general vibe was that anti-depressants were over-prescribed to teens in the past, and that hormone prescriptions are being pushed on trans kids.

J.K. begins by saying she s ignored plenty of hate thrown her way, but she just CANNOT ignore checks notes a random Twitter user that made a sarcastic joke about J.K. possibly being anti-antidepressants. J.K. explains she liked a link to a post arguing in favor of holistic treatments over hormone drugs, allegedly written by a trans woman that J.K. is a fan of. Because the author is trans, J.K. thinks that any criticism of the article counts as transphobic hate. And J.K. will not stand for any transphobia on Twitter. Someone get that Spider-Man pointing at himself meme, I found a use for it.

Sophie is a trans woman and a true feminist ally. She was making the point that anti-depressants were over-prescribed to teenagers in the past, with serious consequences. https: t.co yxuK2Mh49X 8 11

J.K. also stressed that she is pro-mental health medicine, and that she s taken anti-depressants in the past. What she does have a problem with is that, according to her, too many doctors are trying to convert kids into being trans by pushing hormones on them way too soon. According to J.K., many medical professionals think kids are being trans-converted. And she s just so concerned, because turning trans could damage their fertility.

Many, myself included, believe we are watching a new kind of conversion therapy for young gay people, who are being set on a lifelong path of medicalisation that may result in the loss of their fertility and or full sexual function. 5 11

None of that may trouble you or disturb your belief in your own righteousness. But if so, I can t pretend I care much about your bad opinion of me. 11 11

If I m reading this right, J.K. is scared that trans kids are transitioning too early to realize the consequences of their actions, and doctors are just letting this happen because I don t know, they re bored or something. And if they transition too early, they might not be fully aware that they ve given up their ability to make a baby. And how will they have a baby?! I know that in J.K. s world, adoption happens when your parents are murdered by a wizard, and you re subsequently forced to live under the stairs, eating Dudley s nasty cake scraps. But that s not really at least not usually how it works here in the real world.

Not to mention that some trans men can still get pregnant if they so choose, and some trans women can help make that happen. Although I don t know if J.K. is ready for that conversation, considering she s still clutching her lariat necklace over the thought of who s allowed in the women s bathroom. Baby steps. But wait, how will they get that baby?!? Help us, Obi-Wan, you re our only hope! I know I m mixing up fantasy franchises, but let s face it we could use all the help we can get to stop J.K. from tweeting.
