The fight would take place one week before Robert Whittaker vs. Paulo Costa. Another important fight at the top-end of the UFC s middleweight division is now set.

ESPN s Brett Okamoto says verbal agreements are in place for former welterweight title challenger Darren Till to take on Italian contender Marvin Vettori in a five-round main event on April 10th at a TBD location. The card would take place one week before another middleweight headliner between Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa.

Till 18-3-1 was an undefeated rising star at welterweight, landing a title shot against then-champion Tyron Woodley in 2018. The Englishman produced literally zero offense and lost by second-round submission. A KO loss to Jorge Masvidal prompted a move up to middleweight, which got off to a bright start with a decision win over Kelvin Gastelum. In his last fight, he lost a competitive decision to former champ Robert Whittaker.

Vettori 16-4-1 is on a four-fight winning streak since his narrow loss to Israel Adesanya back in 2019. After getting decisions over Cezar Ferreira and Andrew Sanchez, Vettori quickly submitted Karl Roberson and then announced his arrival as a serious contender with an entertaining five-round victory over Jack Hermansson last month. Vettori was originally supposed to fight Kevin Holland at UFC 256, only to take on Hermansson on short notice.

Current rankings have Till at #4 and Vettori at #5.
