I Tried Kendall Jenner s Gua Sha Routine For a Week

Get the Full StoryWhen it comes to the Kardashian-Jenner clan, I have a few favorites. For makeup, Kylie is my vibe, but for hair, I'm all about Kourtney or Kim. Khlo is my go-to girl personality-wise, and when it comes to outfits, I'd say I'm most in line with Kendall. If I had to pick one of them to give me skin-care advice, I'd probably go with Kim - she seems to be the most honest about procedures and skin-care treatments she's had done, like Morpheus. However, recently, I stumbled across a video of Kendall sharing her entire beauty routine, and there were quite a few things I wanted to try. The most interesting? Her gua sha routine.

In a video for Vogue, Jenner recently showed off a one-minute gua sha routine that was, well . . . interesting, to say the least. "Don't judge me," she says in the video. "I don't have the most skill when it comes to this, but. . . here I go." Regardless of whether or not she has "skill" when it comes to gua sha, she has a pretty snatched face, in my opinion, so I was glued to the screen as she walked through her process.

When I saw tons of influencers and beauty lovers trying it out for themselves in the days following, I knew I wanted to give it a try, too. To prep her skin, Jenner slathered her face in the SheaMoisture Daily Hydration Overnight Face Oil 8 . She says she uses it right in the morning after waking up, but then she washes it off afterward. "I love it because it's thick, and the gua sha just slides. The reason I do it before I wash my face is because I'm using a lot of heavy oils. To make sure all the oils come off of my face, I cleanse after."

I didn't happen to have that particular face oil on hand, so instead, I used a different one that I already had at home: the Uncommon Beauty Face Oil 48 . I'm a fan of this product because it's vegan, and it's so lightweight that I don't have to wash it off after using it; it soaks into my skin fairly well.

Face oil isn't the only thing Jenner uses to get a great glide for gua sha - she also spritzes on the Heritage Store Rosewater 14 before going in with a stainless steel tool. Instead, I opted for the Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist 34 , which is one of my favorite facial sprays for long-lasting hydration. Then, I grabbed a nameless gua sha product I had shoved in a drawer from years ago.

Jenner keeps her gua sha in a cup of ice and starts out by pressing it on her eyes. From there, she drags the tool across her jawline and down her, across her cheeks, and over each eyebrow in an upward motion three times in each section. She says that one of her eyebrows is higher than the other, so she brings one of them up very high using the tool, and the other one, she pulls more in an outward motion.

For one week, I started my morning with Jenner's gua sha regimen. I kept my gua sha in the fridge overnight, and I loved how it helped wake up my eyes and reduce puffiness. I also loved how my skin felt extra hydrated when using the oil and facial spray combination, even though I did wash them off before doing my full skin-care routine. I didn't notice a long-term difference in what my face looked like from using the gua sha, but I did see temporary benefits. My face overall looked less puffy, and my skin looked brighter, as well.

Even though my little experiment is over, I'm still going to continue using gua sha in the morning. It's a great way to get my day started, and I really love how relaxing it is. If you've been looking for a fun and easy way to start your morning and reduce puffiness, I'd recommend giving it a try. It only takes a minute, and in my opinion, self-care is worth it.
