Here's What to Pack For the Perfect Sun-Kissed Vacation in Maui
Get the Full StoryPrior to my recent trip, my previous and only visit to Maui was with my family when I was 12. As a result, I had always thought of Maui as a place where parents would bring their young kids or where ex-tenure retirees headed to enjoy a life of beauty and stillness. But a few weeks ago, that perspective changed entirely. I got the chance to visit Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui - and I got to see the real Maui. Turns out, this Hawaiian locale has tons of activities and nature to offer me and other millennials interested in trending travel destinations. After experiencing some of the biggest luaus, a rum punch tasting, Michelin Star dining, breathtaking views, and forest hikes, Maui quickly became my favorite Hawaiian island my previous trips were to the Big Island and Oahu . Ahead, read all about my experience, including packing tips and the essentials you won't want to forget.
Best Packing Tips For Maui
Thanks to the warmer climate, Maui is a great place to go when you need an escape from dreary weather. Throughout the year, temperatures rarely drop below 65 degrees Fahrenheit and can get up to 95 degrees or warmer in the summer. The air can become muggy with a chill, so make sure you bring layers as well.
Your days will be spent lounging poolside while sipping pre-sunset drinks, exploring local landmarks, and having outdoor adventures. For these, you'll want to pack plenty of sunscreen, swimsuits, and a trusted pair of sneakers that you don't mind getting muddy. And of course, make sure you attend a luau. The luau I went to offered incredible food, ancient storytelling, and dancing - trust me, you won't want to miss this. People tend to dress up for luaus, so I suggest packing a floral outfit that is breathable, as you will be moving around and dancing.
