Men just do stuff like that : Woman sued American Airlines after flight attendant forced her to tolerate male predation

Get the Full StoryThe world, and especially the tone-deaf brains out there, enjoy telling women how they should stop suffering all the injustices towards them and just stand up against them. Trust me, we are doing that with all our might, but what about those inherently and shamelessly coded to demand women to somehow breathe through the most extreme discrimination and injustice? This was the experience of Neel Elsherif, the CEO of companies like Nile Hudson and Mela, when she boarded the American Airlines for an eight-hour-long flight to Milan in May 2024. Why? Because she had to endure a disturbing and traumatic experience sitting next to an intoxicated man who continuously and brazenly masturbated for approximately 60 minutes during the flight. According to her complaint procured by People , this man was served several glasses of champagne in the first hour and soon proceeded with his despicable actions after the lights were dimmed. In that moment, Elsherif froze and felt extremely uncomfortable and helpless. She tried to ignore the man s actions, hoping to block him from her sight, while hoping that a passing flight attendant would notice and put an end to it, but he only intensified his act and continued doing it for a full hour. While it was a premium economy flight, even here, preference was given to the white male, as when she stood up and brought it all to the attention of a flight attendant, her justified concerns were sidelined. The flight attendant advised her not to get all that worked up since men just do stuff like that and then brought up her husband, who apparently does stuff like that, too. When pushed to take some action, the flight attendant stated that there was nothing really that she can do except move her seat to a different seat in coach. Yep, not move the disgusting, but the woman he was harassing. When Elsherif outlined that she paid more than 3000 for her seat and was not the one being inappropriate, the flight attendant allegedly refused to move the man to a different seat. Unable to take it anymore, Elsherif moved to a seat in coach and later noticed the same flight attendant serving this man more champagne and engaging in jovial, friendly interactions. Reporting the alleged assault to the gate staff at both Milan Malpensa Airport and those in New York City also got her no result, as she asked to call the 1-800 number. Disappointed and justifiably incensed over the treatment, Elsherif sued American Airlines to hold them accountable and to pay damages for causing her emotional distress. As pointed out by her attorneys in her complaint, the flight attendant, and by extension American Airlines, expected that Elsherif should endure such grotesque misconduct, and reinforced the pernicious and unlawful stereotype that women must tolerate male predation as a fact of life. In her complaint, she has also alleged that apart from the gender discrimination, it was also racial since she is of Arab and Middle Eastern descent, while both the flight attendant and the man were white. The flight attendant gave John Doe preferential treatment over her , and treated John Doe s safety, comfort and convenience more importantly than hers , because John Doe is a white male. There are yet to be any fresh updates in the case, though the airline did respond to People and assured that they looking into the allegations.
